The permanent Exhibition of Economic Achievements (VDNKh) was designed in 1959 to give the visitors a glossy picture of the latest achievements of the Soviet industry, agriculture and science. In early 1990’s the exhibition was renamed into All-Russian Exhibition Center (VVTs), most of its 250 pavilions were privatized and now host shops of all kinds. The center with its vast green parks, beautiful fountains (with the Friendship Fountain being the most spectacular), the large Botanical Garden, plenty of eateries and a new fun park for children has become a favorite place for outings by Muscovites.
